GNU Make version 3.62, by Richard Stallman and Roland McGrath.

The following makefile is correctly processed by /bin/make and GNU make 3.59
Can someone explain why it doesn't work with GNU make 3.62 ?

	Target is lib.a with two modules (one.o and two.o)

LIB=lib.a
.c.a:
	$(CC) $(CFLAGS) -c $*.c
	ar r $(LIB) $*.o
	rm -f $*.o

OBJ=	$(LIB)(one.o)	\
	$(LIB)(two.o)

.PRECIOUS: $(LIB)

make: $(LIB)

$(LIB): file.h $(OBJ)
	$(RANLIB) $(LIB)
