Has anyone used ld as a cross linker where the host and target machines have the same byte order, but the host machine has stricter alignment requirements? I have tried to do this with an hp9k800 as the host and an hp9k300 as the target. It appears that each relocatable chunk in the input is aligned to a two-byte boundary. Either the input or the output ends up not being word-aligned, and then ld dumps core trying to copy it.
