MACHINE: Sun SPARCstation 1
OS: SunOS 4.1.1
COMPILER: gcc 2.2.2(with groff gcc.patch), gas 1.38.1, gld 2.0/1.94
With gld 2.0 the configure script for groff 1.06 will fail
DESCRIPTION OF INCORRECT BEHAVIOUR:
When I type ./configure using gld 2.0 I get the message:
gcc -O is not installed correctly: static constructors and destructors do not work
When I revert back to gld 1.94-beta the problem goes away. The offending code
is the following:
extern "C" {
void exit(int);
void _exit(int);
}
int i;
struct A {
char dummy;
A() { i = 1; }
~A() { if (i == 1) _exit(0); }
};
A a;
main() { exit(1); }
It seems that the destructor is not getting called before or during the exit
cleanup process due to some linking problem.
Thanks.
