I tried to install bin-utils 2.0. I'm using SunOS 4.1.2 on sparcs and gmake 3.62, gcc 2.2.2. It doesn't seem to want to compile with gcc...most other configure scripts know to use gcc... When I run make -n install after what appears to be a successful make, I get... c" "BISON=bison -y" make[2]: Entering directory `/a/rockwell/root/dk3g/gnu/src/binutils-2.0/opcodes' for i in ; do if [ -d ./$i ] ; then if (cd ./$i; make prefix=/usr/gnu exec_prefix=/usr/gnu tooldir=/usr/gnu/lib AR=ar AR_FLAGS=qc CC=cc CFLAGS=-g RANLIB=ranlib LOADLIBES= LDFLAGS= BISON=bison\ -y LEX=flex MAKEINFO=/a/rockwell/root/dk3g/gnu/src/binutils-2.0/texinfo/C/makeinfo INSTALL=install\ -c INSTALL_DATA=install\ -c INSTALL_PROGRAM=install\ -c DO=install DODIRS= against= AR=ar AR_FLAGS=qc CC=cc CFLAGS=-g RANLIB=ranlib MAKEINFO=/a/rockwell/root/dk3g/gnu/src/binutils-2.0/texinfo/C/makeinfo INSTALL=instal \ -c INSTALL_DATA=install\ -c INSTALL_PROGRAM=install\ -c BISON=bison\ -y "against=" "AR=ar" "AR_FLAGS=qc" "CC=cc" "CFLAGS=-g" "RANLIB=ranlib" "MAKEINFO=/a/rockwell/root/dk3g/gnu/src/binutils-2.0/texinfo/C/makeinfo" "INSTALL=install -c" "INSTALL_DATA=install -c" "INSTALL_PROGRAM=install -c" "BISON=bison -y" install) ; then true ; else exit 1 ; fi ; else true ; fi ; done /bin/sh: syntax error at line 1: `;' unexpected make[2]: *** [subdir_do] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/a/rockwell/root/dk3g/gnu/src/binutils-2.0/opcodes' make[1]: *** [install] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/a/rockwell/root/dk3g/gnu/src/binutils-2.0/opcodes' make: *** [install-opcodes] Error 1 make: Leaving directory `/a/rockwell/root/dk3g/gnu/src/binutils-2.0' When I just try a make install I get: leisner@annapurna$ make -w install make: Entering directory `/a/rockwell/root/dk3g/gnu/src/binutils-2.0' for i in /usr/gnu /usr/gnu /usr/gnu/lib ; do echo Making $i... ; parent=`echo $i|sed -e 's@/[^/]*$@@'`; if [ -d $parent ] ; then true ; else mkdir $parent ; fi ; if [ ! -d $i ] ; then if mkdir $i ; then true ; else exit 1 ; fi ; else true ; fi ; done Making /usr/gnu... Also, the documentation says its using TeXinfo 2.78, but the texinfo I'm using is really 2.15. -- marty leisner.henr801c@xerox.com Member of the League for Programming Freedom
