Bowers + 10: Litigation, Legislation & Community Activism Strategies for Lesbian, Bisexual and Gay Equality The Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review and Harvard LAMBDA will co-sponsor a half-day event addressing current issues in the struggle for lesbian, bisexual and gay equality. Building upon the legacy of the Supreme Court's 1986 decision in Bowers v. Hardwick, this event will exaine the impact of the Court's recent opinion in Romer v. Evans on the civil rights of lesbians, bisexuals and gays. Panel discussions will explore strategies for progress in three arenas: litigation, legislation and community activism. The Honorable Barney Frank, U.S. Congressman for Massachusetts, Fourth District, will present the keynote address. Panelists include Michelle Benecke, Co-Executive Director of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Fund; Amelia Craig, Executive Director of the Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders; Richard Fallon, Professor of Constitutional Law, Harvard Law School; Chai Feldblum, Director of the Federal Legislation Clinic, Georgetown Law Center; The Honorable Dale McCormack, Maine State Senator; and Evan Wolfson, Director of the Gay and Lesbian Marriage Project, LAMBDA Legal Defense Fund. The two panels will be moderated by Jarrett Barrios, Esq., Hill & Barlow. The conference, scheduled for Saturday, November 16, will take place in the Ames Courtroom, Austin Hall, Harvard Law School.
