Evangelicals and some of the large religions interpret the bible as 100% 
true not parables or life lessons or guidelines as you suggested but "The 
God's truth."
I do not know if there is a god but I feel 100% sure the bible is not 
his/hers/its/whatever words but mans words.
Too may religious zealots (nuts) refuse to except others have rights of 
different opinions than those intolerant ones found in the Bible or as I 
call it the big book of fabled and fairy tales.

They ridicule the admitted incomplete theory of evolution and refuse to 
acknowledge the 98+ presentage of touchable proof for it, but demand we 
embrace with eyes closed the Absolutely No Proof Bible with all its 
contradictions holes and out and out laughable pronouncements on things such 
as the earth's age the whole human race from two genetic people and one was 
a female clone of the first.
