Internet geeks, mark your calendars! On 2008-01-01, I'll be hosting a levee to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Internet's Flag Day. There'll be lots of socializing, fingerfood, and if I get sponsorship for it, some champagne to toast 25 years of faithful service from TCP/IP. If you don't know what "Flag Day 1983" is -- look it up! It's when we turned up TCP/IP, the protocol that you're using to read this very email. The party will be somewhere in Halifax, on the afternoon of New Years Day. More details will be forthcoming, but for now - mark your calendars!

Since I'm using a browser to view this, I'm probably using HTTP, or something else in the Application layer of the internet protocol stack. TCP and IP deal more with data delivery , not displaying information.

Whichever client your using sends the message via NNTP, not SMTP.
