Please pass on to any of your LGBT friends who are seniors or are planning to become ones: St John's United Church has proposed an LGBT-Positive Seniors Residence on Windsor Street at Willow where the church currently is. The project has generated controversy and media attention in the last few weeks; objectors have raised questions of building height and land use, and some people have encountered the false perception that the residences are for LGBT elders only. City Council has decided to defer approval of the project until after a public input process can be completed. There's a public information session on Sunday afternoon; there's full information here including an architect's sketch and link to Facebook event for RSVPs: http://gay.hfxns.org/SpiritPlace -- Daniel MacKay Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
