I've read several answers to this post, but no one so far has
suggested the simplest solution.

Assuming you have modems in both your machines (and if one of them
doesn't, a modem is certainly cheaper than a zip drive), you can:

1.  Transfer the file from one to another via modem; or if both
computers can't be online at the same time, next best way is:

2.  Upload the file to a local BBS or [if absolutely necessary] post
it to *one* of the <non-busy> binaries newsgroups ... then download it
later to your other machine.

If possible, schedule your upload for late at night when most systems
usually aren't as busy.  Good luck.
