since i can only use PKZIP or ARJ to compress them on PC.Also, the DD files is
totally helpless on my PC.

Do anybody can tell me is there any program that can share compress files between MAC
and PC ?

p.s.Well, pls don't tell me buy to the MO or ZIP drive, i will do that once i got
enoght $$$.

Thanks!

Couple of ways to do this:

1. There exist Mac programs that understand PKZIP formats (but not ARJ).
Zip-it (shareware) and Stuffit Expander [I *think* it needs the DropStuff
   shareware add-on to handle PKZIP].

2. There's an UNSIT.EXE for the PeeCee, and yes it unstuffs Stuffit files.
I'm unaware of a Stuffit stuffer, tho. It's free.

3. Use an alternate compression program. GNU's gzip exists for the Mac,
and I would be shocked if it didn't exist for the PeeCee.

James - great gravy, you sure did crosspost this all over the place!

There's a shareware Mac application called ZipIt, which can encode and
decode ZIP archives. But if you only need to decompress ZIP files, use the
freeware StuffIt Expander. Both are available on Info-Mac.

There are actually two ways of doing it. One is install Stuffit for
DOS/Windows on your PC, or install Zipit on your Mac. I think the latest
version of Stuffit Deluxe 4.0 do handle most of this format, get a copy,
it is great software!

Oh, I just realized that you are transporting graphic file... In this
case, compression software won't help you very much at all. If you don't
mind degrading the quality of your images a bit, try JPEG format.

Kenneth,
Great thanks, and it helps, at least you let me know there is zip in
Mac.
i already stored them on jpg, but what is still helpless, cause some
file is just over 1.44 mb.So finally i can store them on jpg and decrease
the qulity. But that is no a perfect soltion.

I think i gotta get a summer jobs and buy a ZipDrv....
  :'(

Regrads,
Henry

There is a new, better solution. Buy a zip drive (parallel port type)
which can be attached to both PC and MAC thru printer port. this
Zip drive uses removable disks, each holds 100 mb!!! I use it to
back up files. But you can carry it and go from one computer to
another. Costs US$200 for the drive. But you get another "hard drive."

Henry,

There are compacting programs with versions for both platforms: zipit, for one.

Some of them will automatically divide a file into multiple parts and
reunite them when they are being uncompressed. If your files are "just
over 1.44 mb" I would not suggest getting a zip or ez drive--that's really
overkill to carry around less than 2 megs!

Sorry, but you have to get the SCSI zip. Macs don't HAVE a parallel port.
Look into an EZ-135 as well. DAT tapes, archival programs are all avenues
to look at.

I am not going to tell you to buy anything, but I am going to let you know that there is a ZIP -
extractor for the mac. It is called: ZipIt the latest is v.1.3.5 Using this, you should be able to
extract any ZIP files onto a MAC. Have fun!!!

Why invest on ZIP Drive if you dont really need it? ZipIt can compress over multiple disks, I
got it to work OK.
