May I recommend the 1984 film version with Julia Migenes and Placido Domingo (not that it will do any good, since it isn't available on DVD, for some bizarre reason). It will really interest Tracey (who is an idiot), because Carmen's a Tea Party patriot who is hated because she wants to reduce taxes and get Big Government out of people's lives, and Don Jose just really wants to drive her car, man. BTW, wharfster, it's the instantly-recognizable overture, surely? Even more fmaous than the Toreador Song, I should think.
