For the most part, Caca del Toro, but I share your wishful thinking. You /know/
it's politics, and in a mid-term election year no less. Democrats are
/supposed/ to be the "friend" of the "poor and downtrodden", and Republicans
can't afford to alienate any more of the Latino vote, let alone the rest of the
demographic if they are to retain any semblance of power in federal, state and
local levels, even though there is a fairly significant number of Latinos who
would and do support enforcement of immigration laws.

Why isn't this government not

> that put them to work?

Exactly the point - and it *is* being done on a limited basis to some success -
but because you *know* that the liberalistas would go apeshit and further fan
the flames of ignorantly and ridiculously calling this a fascist state, even
though this would be a *huge* step in stemming this growing problem. "Damned if
you do, damned if you don't" for those people.

>Let's not bring race into this mess because this
> should not be confused or mix with racism.

Racism isn't even remotely the issue. But I do wholeheartedly agree that the
hammer should be dropped on those corporations who hire these illegals and
provide them with the incentive to come here, surpressing wages and yes, bumping
Americans out of jobs which they *would* take, ideally, if the wages were
competetive. I-9 (citizenship status) forms are a joke; they're almost /never/
enforced when a given social security number, for example, is found to be
fraudulent (having been bought for several hundred dollars on the black market).
It's the fact that these illegals are just that; criminals in the fact that
they flout the laws of this country to come here in the first place by bypassing
all the laws already set in place to do so legally. And someone expects me to
have even a modicum of pity for these people? Even a sizable percentage of
American citizens of Latino origin agree with this.

> No illegal should be in the country regardless of his/her race.

Again, agreed. And, don't get me started on "this is a nation of immigrants".
Sure, they all (or at least the vast majority) came here LEGALLY! This is *not*
to say that they aren't welcome, just go through the process like you're
supposed to and like everyone else did before you.

> BLAME YOUR GOVERNMENT

...and I hope you include _all_ levels and _all_ parties, and that this isn't
just some veiled anti-Bush tirade.

> DON'T BLAME THE ILLEGAL, he is just trying to survive and he is a victim of
> the corporation's greed.

Not exactly - and I despise the whole "Dr. Phil-type" syndrome of "victimhood" -
but while we're on the subject, why don't all the pity-for-the-illegals
shmeckolas get on Mexi-hole's president Vicente Fox's remarkably corrupt back
(and off Bush's) for leading such a decrepit nation down the crapper in the
first place in providing a further incentive for its citizens to leave it,
huh?!? Western Union (and other money-wiring concerns) are making a shload of
money from these illegals sending billions of U.S. dollars back to their home
countries instead of spending it here and benefitting the U.S. economy.

Not to mention all the outright criminals who come here, not looking for jobs,
but for new - and substantially wealthier - victims. Another *fact* that the
boo-hooers often overlook.
