CONFERENCE LOCATION
Vancouver, Canada's third largest city, is noted for the beauty of its setting
on the Pacific Ocean surrounded by mountains and provincial parks. The
province of British Columbia contains some of the most spectacular mountain
and coastal scenery in the world. Tourists in Vancouver can explore the parks,
museums, public markets, shopping malls, ethnic districts, historical sites,
restaurants, night life, cultural events and sports. The city celebrated its
Centennial in 1986 and hosted "Expo 86", the 1986 World Exposition. Vancouver
shows its ethnic diversity with a wealth of restaurants for every taste and
budget.
June is one of the mild months of the year. The daytime temperatures are
usually in the range of 18 - 22 degrees Celsius. Occasional rain should be
expected! At high altitude snow may remain throughout July.
The high season for tourism and conventions in Vancouver begins in June. Early
reservations of airline seats, hotel rooms and rental cars is highly
recommended to guarantee your selection.
The conference location is on the campus of the University of British Columbia.
UBC is about 20 minutes by car from Vancouver International Airport or
downtown Vancouver. A scenic drive along Spanish Banks leads from the centre
of Vancouver to the University Endowment Lands.
Vancouver International Airport is served by many international airlines which
provide direct flights to Vancouver. U.S. Interstate I5 becomes BC highway 99
at the US - Canada border and goes directly into Vancouver. Trans Canada
Highway 1 leads east across Canada.
Visitors to Canada are reminded that they will require proper documentation
for Customs and Immigration.

Whistler's walkways with its beckoning boutiques, curio shops and culinary
delights.
Cost per person $69.55 (including tax)
VICTORIA DAY TRIP
You will board a deluxe motorcoach which will take you on board a B.C. Ferry
for a one and a half hour journey through the scenic Gulf Islands. Upon
arrival in Victoria you will have one and a half hours to stroll through
Butchart Gardens, 130 acres of world famous traditional English, Japanese,
European and North American Gardens, but there will still be enough time to
explore the majestic city of Victoria, including the Parliament Buildings, the
Provincial Museum and the Empress Hotel.

waters of Howe Sound, on the other side the sheer rock faces of the Coastal
Range. There will be a stop in Squamish. The return trip on the ferry through
beautiful Howe Sound will take approximately 3 hours.
