28 October 1992

This morning Purdue Solar Racing Club received a call from NREL (National
Renewable Energies Laboratory) extending an invitation to Sunrayce 93.
Sunrayce 93 is a race of solar powered cars designed and built by students
from 36 universities. The race begins in the Dallas/Fort Worth area
June 20, 1993 and ends in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota 6 days and
1000 miles later.

What makes this announcement so overwhelming is that Purdue's proposal
to enter the race was originally declined at the beginning of 92. The
Purdue Solar Racing Club was formed in November of 91 only a couple of weeks
before the proposal was due. Our proposal was originally declined.
Even though we were not accepted, we continued forth with designs and
fund-raising with plans to race in other solar races and better our
chances of entering Sunrayce 95. The recent withdrawal by Florida
Institute of Technology opened the door for Purdue to enter.

Purdue will be racing teams from 35 other schools including: Univ of Michigan,
UC Berkeley, Arizona State and Colorado State.

The fact that we will be participating in Sunrayce 93 does not effect our
current goals of money or the design of our car. We have always been designing
it to meet Sunrayce specifications with our eyes on 95. Now we don't have to
wait till 95. WE WILL RACE IN 93!

Thank you for your attention!
