What's so strange about it? There's a lot of emphasis inside IBM
on working together, and often you meet people as part of
projects that you'd like to keep in touch with. If you leave the
company, meetings like this are sometimes the only places you get
to see these people.

Hate to say it, folks, but it's usually pretty quiet. People
stand around, eat stuff, drink, and gab/swap stories. IBM has an
institutional culture that appeals to a lot of people -- it's not
a bad place to work if you can get along in that culture.

Think of it more like high-school reunions. You go if you want to
see people.
