I have been trying to get freeWAIS-sf running on BSD/OS. When compiling, after taking out a couple of superfluous redeclarations of sys_errlist, make bombs out on the field_l.l file saying: flex field_l.l gcc -I../ctype -c lex.yy.c -o field_l.o ... [harmless warnings about BSD having been redefined] field_l.l: In function `yylex': field_l.l:48: `yylval' undeclared (first use this function) field_l.l:48: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once field_l.l:48: for each function it appears in.) One finds in the y.tab.h file the declaration of yylval extern YYSTYPE yylval; So I added this to field_y.h and found that query_l.l has the same problem, so I added the same line to query_y.h. Now the compilation proceeds to completion , but on the tests included with the distribution, waisindex dumps core immediately after starting the indexing operation. The gdb backtrace looks like this: #0 0x1efb9 in yylex (0xefbfd5fc, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) #1 0x1ed39 in yylex (0xefbfd5fc, 0xefbfdadb, 0xefbfd602, 0x00000000) #2 0x1c72a in yyparse (0xefbfcd38, 0x0001c4d5, 0x0005b5a0, 0x00000000) #3 0x1c3a8 in yywrap (0x0005b5a0, 0x00000000, 0x65742f2e, 0x2e677473) #4 0x1c4d5 in init_add_fields (0x000a5020, 0xefbfd1c0, 0x000a4000, 0xefbfdab8) #5 0x45d3 in main (0x00000001, 0xefbfda20, 0xefbfda28, 0xefbfdff0) Among many other things I have tried taking out the "extern" definition of yylval or using yacc or byacc instead of bison -y. It is always the same. If anybody has any suggestions it would be much appreciated. -- David Condon, Librarian | dcondon@cmnh.org Cleveland Museum of Natural History | 1 Wade Oval Drive, University Circle | +1 (216) 231-4600 ext.222 Cleveland, Ohio 44106-1767 | Fax: +1 (216) 231-5919
