Hi I think I have had the same sort of problems a few times, and I dont an exact solution, but there could be a couple of reasons for it, one are you on an internal exchange? if you are exchanges have a differnet dial tone sometimes and some modems wont pick the dial tone up although it is there. Also whats the modem seen as in control pannel ? I had one case of a motorola modem installing but giving this error, I installed a Standard modem so there were 2 modems installed and in seemed to sort the problem out, dont ask me why though, If get a solution to this the I would also appreciate it if you let me know as it has confused me.
