I have decided to teach "test-taking techniques" and address the specific language situation in class. I've riled up the kids so that they feel as if this is a challenge and they intend to "beat it." We are not so much teaching the test but teaching techniquest that will help them throughout standardized testing which they will encounter throughout their lives. My kids told me they want to do so well that their scores are qeustioned like Jaime Escalante's scores in STAND AND DELIVER. I got quite a kick out of that. These skills are going to be our Friday Fare and hopefully will increase their confidence. I'm still open to any and all ideas concerning this standardized test dilemma. Especially looking for someone to suggest ideas that has had some good results. Gee, why doesn't somebody get Jaime Escalante on-line? Just think what we could do with that resource! -- uucp: uunet!m2xenix!puddle!381!64!Carol.Hooper Internet: Carol.Hooper@f64.n381.z1.fidonet.org

It would be nice if the students can meet the challenge of test writing
through their math skills.

Some standardized tests expect you to know everything. You need to be
prepared for the type of questions used.

I don't see why the scores of one person attract so much attention.
Your students should not feel their education is complete once they learn
to get a good test score.
