Dennis...:)  Right of the top of my head would be alignment problems.  I 
have had it happen that drives wouldn't load all programs, just some and not 
save to disk and it turned out to be alignment troubles.  I would suggest 
taking it to a technitian who can look at it for you.  There are programs to 
do it but it is a touchy adjustment , taking apart the drive and using 
adjustment screws etc.  so would recommend finding someone who knows what 
they are doing to do it for you.  I will check further and see if there are 
any other suggestions but feel sure that is the problem.  Happy New Year.
