I,too,am a math/computer resource teacher in a Magnet Middle School here in western Massachusetts. We have a Mac LAN running off a ci with 24 Mac Plus nodes. We try to schedule students into the lab for word processing (process writing), paint, some database and mathematics activities as it fits into their classroom curriculum. I've never seen a more meaningful way for students to learn about computers. Additionally we have a smaller lab that houses a desktop publishing system and 10 Mac si computers which are used for hypercard, publications, animation, art projects and soon some email activities. As in our other lab, students work on projects that are closely connected by theme to their academic subjects. While we are fortunatetohave the hardware and software available to us, I believe that there are lots of engaging activities that can be created for students with very little. -- uucp: uunet!m2xenix!puddle!321!109!Laurel.ODonnell Internet: Laurel.ODonnell@f109.n321.z1.fidonet.org
