Hi Rod,
I am a private tutor in Irving, TX and have a degree in English. I do hope that the book or books you will be using stress grammar. Far too many of the students that I get at your grade level and beyond cannot do such seemingly simple things as pick out the subject and verb of a sentence let alone direct objects, predicate nouns, etc. Please stess grammar with them and once they have covered one particular area, do go back to make sure that they are still remembering. Grammar is important and a certain

amount of memorization is required such as rules, definitions etc. Good luck in your new endeavor. I hope to talk with you again. Please let me know how the new semester goes.

                                Sincerely,

                                Carol Cunningham
