The following is a response to Michael Moore's topic abstract 
concerning
the question of theory in Distance Education:
 
        We would like to acknowledge a distinction between a scientific
        definition of theory and those found in education. An 
educational
        theory is looser in its definition, and might include:
                - explanation of phenomenon
                - a position
                - a philosophical construct
                - a model
                - proposed guidelines
        rather than an hypothesis to be proven right or wrong.
