Let me try to put this really simply ..... I have a 20% average in high school. I get accepted into a certain university - average high school entering average of 30% In that university I get an average of 80% - Wow I've improved so much or so I think... I decide to switch universities - at the other university I get put back a year and still do not understand the material! The averages that are given in a university can not be compared with the averages in another university just because the standards in the university are different. It is an invalid comparison. Now if you compare the number of students from the different universities getting graduate placements etc then the comparison may be more valid. But the points which the Carleton students bring up to- say the "rate of return" are totally invalid. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- j3yang@undergrad.math.uwaterloo.ca | Joseph Yang - University of Waterloo joseph@air.org | 2A Honours Computer Science Tel No : 1-519-884-3502 |
