It can be a fine distinction between the two. However, I personally
have no problem with some kind of technical presentation on a new
product, and let the attendees decide if they want to buy it or not.
After all, this is as much of a "how to do it" group as anything else,
and technical presentations help work towards that goal of increasing
our respective abilities to do things.
Sales pitches, however, are not welcome. And as long as Sean, or
any other person from a SW manufacturer keeps it technical, I have
no problem with them talking about a new or existing product and how
it works, or can be used to solve an outstanding or widespread problem
in our field.
