Last time I was there (a year or two ago, now), there were several good
Thai restaurants within a few blocks on Vermont.  I actually recall my
favorite being closer to 6th, but 8th or 9th could be right also.  (And
technically, that is in Koreatown, not downtown, but I digress).  Quite
convenient to downtown and USC, but lock your car doors.
