The _what_ decor?! We'll just keep that under wraps.

Birdie's, in Old Town, has great muffins and omelets (esp. salmon and
other fish), but so-so coffee and intermittently ditzy waiters. The
covered patio is a nice place to sit.

Buster's, on Mission at the railroad tracks in South Pas, isn't really
a place to eat a full breakfast, but there's nothing like a cup of
their great cappuccino and a croissant; with a good newspaper you can
sit outside forever, and contemplate why Los Angeles is such a great
place to live, what with these crisp and clear mornings we're having
these days.

Konditori, on Lake, has outdoor seating, and a more European breakfast
menu (get the Swedish pancakes with lingonberries). Don't sit inside
when the accordionist plays (Sundays?), and avoid the madwoman with the
Gabor wig like the plague.

Some people have a thing for Pie 'n Burger, on California at Lake. The
motherly, overworked waitresses serve a decent middle-American
breakfast, and you get to socialize at the counter with middle-American
people. But then, if I wanted a taste of Toledo, I'd move there.

Of course, for sheer atmosphere, nothing beats Caltech's faculty club,
the Athenaeum, for breakfast. You have to be a member, though, or know
someone who is.
