I was moderately surprised, during the Christmas Visit, when TLG
proffered naught but wan smiles when I offered to make pancakes for
them for breakfast. Most kids are mad for fluffy hot buttermilk
pancakes covered with real Nova Scotia maple syrup.  So imagine my
astonishment when Vlad reported full-voiced cheers and misty eyes when
HE offered to make them toast.

TOAST.

No crusts, but still...
