Dammit Meg, that's two words I had to check on. Basix is the brand
name of my immersion blender, or so I thought until I checked and
discovered it's "Bamix." And orthography, it turns out, has nothing to
do with birth control.

Do you ever go to the Japanese places around Sawtelle and Olympic?
More Americanized than you might like, but you can get some very good
noodles there, and if Hide (I think it was called) on Sawtelle is
still around, they had great sushi. My shrink's office was on Olympic
near there, and it was always a great comfort to eat a bowl of noodles
after therapy.

Oh, and if you're gardening these days, check out the Japanese
nurseries in that same neighborhood.
