jeremy writes: >[U]s English have to read this[...] Ah, trollus grammaticus -- my favorite species! ObFood'n'Grammar: Why would anyone name a restaurant "Malo"? I'm sure it's terribly postmodern and postironic, but we are not amused. Still, Malo is there, on Sunset, serving Mexican small plates[1] and superpricy twee cocktails. And charging $5 for chips and salsa (or $9 for a flight of salsas[2]). Malo is the creation of the same guy who runs Cobras & Matadors, where we had the best tapas we've ever eaten outside of Spain. But Malo just isn't up to the same standards -- same clientele (ie, loud and obnoxious) but fairly boring food, if preciously presented. All around a bad idea if you ask me. I guess why they call it Malo. Rage away, meg [1] I can't decide to put Quote Marks of Irony around this phrase -- I hate the fad but love the food of the small-plates craze.
