Perhaps.

How is their gumbo? I prefer gumbo over the more mundane jambalaya.

How's the khandvi and patra bhajia at these restaurants? What
restaurants would you recommend for more southern Indian food, idli,
sambar, dosas? Something a bit closer to West LA than Cerritos
perhaps?

LA's a big town. I lived there from 1951 - 1954, then 1956 - 1963,
then again from 1976 - 1980 and I can't say I knew all the restaurants
there.

Do you remember The Patio on Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica, or
chicken pot pie at Ships in Westwood, or malteds at Snug Harbor (also
on Wilshire), or the sesame egg bun hamburgers at the stand in the
Brentwood Farmer's Mart on San Vicente, or the "E-Well done" at Van de
Camps on the Miracle Mile near the old Prudential Western Home Office
and Orbach's? How about Mickey Cohen's The Carousel near Barrington?
Then there was the Dog on a Stick on the beach near Pacific Ocean Park
-- sandy hot dogs on a stick and lemonade --heaven. Do you remember
Helms Bread trucks and the heavenly smell of donuts and bread that you
could buy right off the truck?

>But a better -- even a best -- question would be:
>WHAT HAVE YOU EVER CONTRIBUTED TO LA.EATS?

Under different user IDs, here-and-there since it was newgrouped and
prior to that I recall some heated conversations with Gene Spafford
about Indian food in net.food circa 1986 or so. I have no references
to forward on request to you, however.

Thanks to you, I suppose.
