Why would the MTA be interested in co-sponsoring this event?

Publicity, mostly. (They help sponsor various "street fairs",
ethnic events, 10-k walks, etc. around the LA area. It gets their
logo on event literature . . .)

North Hollywood is in a redevelopment area. I am not sure where the
restaurant is located with regard to the MTA stations, nor do I know who
funded the project. Does anyone know these answers?

Because they have a massive hole in the ground right across the street and
blow tons of dirt right at them. I think its also because the LA Times ran a
bunch of articles last year that blamed the MTA for causing the place to close
under the previous owners.

MTA is trying to make nice with local businesses that have been impacted by
construction. The sponsorship mainly amounts to help with printing.

As mentioned in the previous post, the restaurant is right across the street
(a small street) from the construction site. It is also located within the
redevelopment zone. Its the oldest existing diner of its type in California,
and the last remaining of chain that existed in SoCal during the 20s and 30s.
It really is a historic landmark and its great that its been saved.

I know this is off topic but, What is the oldest Restaurant in California. I
know that the Saugus Cafe is the oldest continuously operating in LA county.
1888 or 1890 and still going. 24 hrs since at least 1938 too.

I wonder if that restaurant in San Francisco that invented the Hangtown Fry is
still open. I am sure that the oldest restaurant in California is in SF.

Tadich Grill? Indeed it is! Although they're saying oldest diner,
not oldest restaurant (which is the Tadich Grill).
