I'm looking for the best pastrami sandwich in either the S.F. Valley or the West Side. Recommendations? ===================================================================== Reid Kneeland reid@tti.com Transaction Technology Inc., Santa Monica, CA, USA (310) 450-9111 x2499 The opinions expressed above do not necessarily etc etc... IMHO, the absolute best is Johnnies on Sepulveda in Culver City.

+
+Depends on you definition of best (doesn't it always).
+
+There seems to be two major styles: Philly, served grilled on a roll
+with (perhaps) grilled onions, and Deli, served cold on hard crust rye
+bread (with mustard).
+
+Can't help with the Philly style.
+
+For deli style pastrami:
+Pico Kosher Deli (pico near fairfax)
I'll sencond that. They are just west of robertson.
+K's (national near barrington)(been a while might not be as good)
Kay's Deli is out of business (sniff)

Recommendations? > -- Is Pasadena close enough? There are two different places in Pasadena that have good pastrami sandwiches. Tops (one on Colorado Blvd and one on Walnut) has a great sandwich with a LOT of meat. The Hat on Lake also has a good sandwich - not as much meat as Tops, but they are dipped in a good sauce. Sandwiches at both places are served on a roll (as opposed to rye). ============================================================================== Bob Longo (longo@sfpp.com) Santa Fe Pacific Pipelines Los Angeles, CA
