The people who don't want to celebrate the birth of a nation that they are
not a part of yes?

Guess what, they got paid for it years ago and not just those in the unions.
Why don't they today. Because a lot of employeers do not want to give
benefits to their employees. Are we starting another sweat shop era?

Wasn't that way many years ago. These people were paid for the Holiday. A lot
of company's still do(yes, company's that do not have a Union or a lot of
salaried workers.) They believe in the birth of the USA and in family.

Who even mentioned anything about the government regulating this?

Not a issue. If you want to put it up for discussion start with a proper post
to the group.

There lies the problem. Instead of thinking of your employee's, time with
their familys, celebrating the birth of the USA as a nation, all that can be
thought of is more profit, more profit(etc). Seems you are crying wolf at the
wrong tree.

Government intervition was never a issue here. The issue is business as it
has become today. Their only thought, appears to be, how to make more money
no matter what it takes or who it effects. The employee has no rights(or as
little as can be given). This is really a moral situation. Just think instead
of having your employees grumble they might actually think you are a good
employer(what a concept, loyal and happy employees). It's proven that when
employees are happy they work harder and are a lot more loyal to their
employer.

Recently a major employer(retail) stopped hiring 40 hour/week employees. They
now only hire 30-32 hour/week employees(as full time) or under 25 hour/week
employees. One of the reasons was a great savings in benefits it pays to it's
employees. This is the mentality of business today(no not all business' but
quite a few).
