Yes, Gloria Molina, in particular, was very very disappointing. Shortly
after being seated on the board, she introduced a bill to limit yard sales
to two per year--"One for Fall and one Spring cleaning," a Molina aide
chirped. Coming at a time when SoCal was still locked in recession, and
some people relied on selling from their front yards to put food on the
table, it was tragic to see Molina buy into the Board's vision of the
Valley, San Gabriel, etc., as Cleaverish suburbs, not to be disturbed by
uncouth commerce.

That was me, thanks. 

And you are quite correct about apathy. Even the omnipotent supervisors
couldn't withstand a serious, concerted challenge to their liegeholds on
power. Disunity, like Valley succesh talk, only strengthens their hold,
while excusing them from taking positive steps to improve life in Southern
California.
