They're living in >1896, not 1996. What mayor can change any of that? Someone who is not a politician, lawyer or corporate welfare queen (i.e. Ross Perot, Riordan) or someone who got their money from daddy (Steve Forbes). Someone who has the fire in the belly to be a leader, articulate a vision and lead the people behind it. In the past, people like John Kennedy, Eleanor Roosevelt, Booker T. Washington, Caesar Chavez, Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, etc. had these qualities. Nowadays, those kind of people are few and far between, but you might come close if you could get someone like Michael Eisner or Peter Ueberroth to run. Even a Jack Kemp (though not an LA resident) would be a good choice. We don't need more politicians like Riordan, Mark Ridley-Thomas, Tom Hayden, Richard Alatorre, Mike Antonovich, Rita Walters, etc. I'd even like to see the freshman councilman Mike Feuer from Sherman Oaks run, even though it might be too early in his career. He seems to be the only one in city government who cares about the average citizen and getting things done. ----- Michael - MHigby@primenet.com Join The BooZoo Comics Mailing List World Wide Web: http://www.bolis.com/L/listinfo/boozoo or E-mail me to subscribe -----
