Riordan is not a businessman, he's a lawyer, in reality, more of a negotiator 
or high priced lobbyist.  That's what he sells.  He doesn't make anything.  
You might say that he owns the Pantry, but he is more of a caretaker.  He lets 
them run the place the way they always have.  You might say that's smart 
business sense, but it doesn't take a genius to let something that works 
alone.

On the other hand, Eisner and Ueberroth are both creative wizards.  They know 
how to market a product and get to the customer.  And to keep them coming 
back.  Eisner is more of a concept man, while Ueberroth is an organizational 
expert.  They both know how to create a vision, and then carry it out.

This is what LA is in need of, desperately.  Both Eisner and Ueberroth have 
the balls to attempt a radical transformation of LA, which is its only 
guarantee of survival, and only chance to become something.
