* UN partition plan, 1947, Resolution 181

* Before the partition plan, Palestinians owned/controlled 90 per cent of 
the land in historic Palestine

*First Arab-Israeli war, 1948, taking more land than provided under 
partition


* Israel declares itself a state, 1948, on 78 per cent of historic Palestine

*Three quarters of a million indigenous Palestinians displaced/dispossessed 
in 1947-48

*Israel occupied West Bank and Gaza in 1967 with more displacement and 
Israel takes effective control over 100 per cent of historic Palestine

* Israel built colonies for Jews only in West Bank and Gaza, taking over 
tens of thousands of hectares of Palestinian lands

*Israel is building a "security wall" that confiscates further thousands of 
hectares of land and cuts off Palestinians from their land and their work

*Palestine exists only as Gaza and a series of Bantustans in West Bank

*Palestinians today own/control only 10 per cent of historic Palestine

*There are some 260,000 internally displaced Palestinians in Israel

*Some two-thirds of the Palestinian people are refugees or displaced

Israel's actions are illegal under international law but the 15 April 2004 
declaration of George W. Bush legitimizes Israel's seizure of large areas of 
the West Bank and Gaza and the removal of Palestinian inhabitants, ruling 
out the establishment of a contiguous Palestinian state in the areas of 
Palestine populated by Arab Palestinians.
