Well... in my view, a generation is about 30 years... and the current conflict 
is about 60 years old...

More than a few decades, about 60 years, but really the problems started 
between WWI and WWII in terms of local fighting there.

It's a civil war... they can get resolved when external forces stop attempting
to influence the outcome... but that would take a total withdrawl of support
for both sides from the world... The situation in Bosnia was made much worse
because one side had a good supply of weapons, while the other side had none.
Currently one side has a overwhelming advantage over the other...
