The government generally requires that people with cancer suffer a painful 
death because pain medication is "evil", and suffering is good (it builds 
character, and Jesus suffered). Also life extension research is generally 
harassed by the gov't, but that is purely financial (screws up social security 
if people live longer then predicted).
