First Hoover said there was NO organized crime.  Then he said it was
part of the plot for Communist world domination.  Couldn't he make up
his mind?  Sure there is organized crime, and sure there was a plot
for Communist world domination, but it was two different groups of
Fascists up to no good that were not linked together.  Later we found
out that Hoover was taking gratis from white collar criminals like
Clint Murchison, whom he was supposed to be investigating!

Joe McCarthy was a broken down alcoholic who used innuendo and
insinuation to scare people into voting for him.

Roy Cohn was a cross between Ivan Boesky and Timothy McVeigh.  A white
collar criminal/terrorist.

No arguement there.  Truman and Churchill were great cold warriors. 
Some of the people McCarthy accused were Communists.  But guilt by
association and guilt by innuendo should not be the law of the land in
a country with a Constitution like ours.  McCarthy accused prominent
military staff officers of being Communists when all they were doing
was following Roosevelt's orders during WWII.  And all Roosevelt was
trying to do was keep the USSR in the war against Nazi Germany!  Then
McCarthy started accusing these military officers' lawyers of being
Communists!  One of them fought back, and McCarthy collapsed like a
house of cards!
