Maybe you should get your head out of your ass and look around. Thanks to Bush and the American Taliban, research is trickling out of the USA to Europe and Asia. Europe has the right environment to again be the science and technology leader it was before 1930, if it can entice away the refugees of 1930, their students, and their grandstudents. A few more years of religious and political extremism will do it. If China can ever get a liberal government that trusts its people instead of jealously guarding its own power, it is also set to be a major innovator of science and technology. India is also close to taking off. The United States became a leader of innovation because Europe gave into fascism and intolerance, and the best and brightest fled to a freer land. Not because it's some kind of chosen land of God. -- Feh. Mad as heck.
