Creating Internet Entertainment: Music Industry Seminar Saturday, June 28, 10am-1pm CyberJava (Venice, CA) FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: editors@kspace.com Kaleidospace (kspace.com), a recognized leader in Internet-based entertainment, announces a new entertainment industry seminar series. Designed for the the arts and entertainment professional, the seminars will provide an in-depth guide to the Internet geared to specific segments of the industry. Featuring direct, high-speed access to the Internet, the seminars will be held at Cyberjava (cyberjava.com), one of the best known Internet "cybercafes" in the Los Angeles area. The first seminar in the series begins Saturday, June 28, 1997 and runs from 10am to 1pm. In keeping with the extraordinary popularity of Internet music, the June seminar focuses on the music industry. It is designed to help independent musicians, record labels, managers, publicists and venue operators to separate industry hype from reality and make the Internet an effective component of their careers. Topics to be discussed include: * developing music-related web sites * supporting audio and video through the Internet * state of online music sales and "pay-per-download" music * methods of publicizing music sites online * strategies for integrating Web sites into larger promotion campaigns * promoting international radio play, distribution deals and tour bookings * new technology, such as Internet-aware audio CDs Later seminars in the series will consider other areas in entertainment including film, visual arts, performing arts, and broadcasting. As a special bonus, musicians are invited to bring their current music and promotional material to the seminar. Kspace will send all musicians a free evaluation of the material with respect to its promotion and distribution over the Internet. (Note: Materials cannot be returned.) The music industry seminar is hosted by Jeannie Novak, professional musician and founder of Kspace (http://kspace.com), the first commercial Web site to sell music over the Web (est. January 1994). Kspace currently has over 500 musician, artist, and filmmaker clients. Jeannie and business partner/co-instructor Pete Markiewicz are authors of *Creating Internet Entertainment* (Wiley Computer Publishing; kspace.com/intertainment), hailed as the first true guide to the Internet for the arts and entertainment professional. The music industry seminar features guest appearances from Steve Rogers, currently the CIO and Webkeeper for Artist Direct (artistdirect.com) and Bernard Yin, independent musician and multimedia developer who is part of LA-based alternative surf band Brazil 2001 (kspace.com/brazil). Light refreshments will be served - and all attendees will receive 1/2 hour of free time on the CyberJava computers. The price of the seminar is $40.00 pre-registration ($45.00 at the door).
