My wife, daughter, and I recently to a trip to Temecula to attend a Bible conference/ seminar in nearby Murrieta. We left Atascadero at about 8:45 AM on Monday, March 10, heading south on US-101 and taking CA-154 over San Marcos Pass. We stopped for lunch at Denny's on Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks just before noon. After filling the tank at a Shell station, we went east on Thousand Oaks Blvd. to CA-23 north since Moorpark Road was being torn up under the 101. Went north on 23 into eastbound CA-118 to I-210 east to CA-71 south to CA-91 east to I-15 south, arriving in Temecula around 3:30 PM. Traffic was smooth nearly the entire way, except for a few slowdowns on the 210. Commuting between Temecula and Murrieta, the only freeway slowdowns occurred where I-215 splits from 15. Our exit in Murrieta was Clinton-Keith Road. Now that's one overpass that needs to be widened badly. It looks like one of those bridges built many years ago when there was less traffic and before the rest of the road was widened. We left Temecula at 8:00 AM on Friday. I had planned to take the same route back home, but both CA-91 west and the corresponding I-15 offramp were backed up, so instead, I continued north on 15 to I-10 west to I-210. After a bathroom stop in Irwindale, we continued west on 210, but instead of taking CA-118, we went to Santa Clarita and hit CA-126 west. That was the first time in six years I had been on 126, and I was pleased to see that it's now four lanes for its entire length, albeit still with cross traffic east of Santa Paula. In Fillmore, we stopped to look around the F&W train station and the train equipment. We stopped for lunch at Vons in Ventura and filled the tank, then came home on 101, 154, and 101, arriving home in Atascadero at about 3:10 PM. All in all it was an easy drive. I was afraid that US-101 west would be backed up east of Santa Barbara on Friday afternoon as occurs often, but fortunately we got through there before that happened. === Paul H! in AtasCal
