'METRO ANGELS' WANTED - HELP AN MTA RIDER DURING THE STRIKE The unions representing bus and rail operators and mechanics are ON STRIKE. All Metro Rail trains have been shut down. Only a handful of bus lines are operating. Half a million Angelenos are stranded without transportation! YOU CAN HELP! BECOME A 'METRO ANGEL' The METRO ANGELS bulletin board is a free service on the web where commuters in need can post their origin and destination points. If you are willing to be a METRO ANGEL, you can contact these riders and offer to give them a lift in your car, truck or van, especially if their commute is the same or similar to yours. Similarly, you can OFFER TO BE A METRO ANGEL by posting your origin/destination and general commute route, and those in need can contact you if they need a life. Us Angelenos must help each other in this time of need - BE A METRO ANGEL! The larger question being, how many people who can't afford a car, can afford a computer and an internet account? I love the typo, though: "those in need can contact you if they need a life." Public Library branches? Yes, you'll certainly reach the MTA ridership that way. How silly of me. I also like how when people get caught in their foolishness, they invariably preface their defense with a snotty "Um,"

There is no cabbie mafia, in fact it's pretty damn hard to even find one that knows LA these days. I used to take cabs everywhere and was happy to have taken a car off the road (not to mention it saved me thousands of bucks a year) but I've had to go back to driving myself because it's damn near impossible to depend on getting anywhere on time in a cab any more. People who take the bus have my sympathy if they're now stuck using cabs, they'll have to be ready to leave even earlier to be sure they are not late arriving at their destination... Billy Y..

Would this not place the angels in a lot of risk from: 1) Being atatcked and maybe murdered by union enforcers? 2) Being subject to punative and vindictive harassment by the police, as they are also union memnbers, and they have a histroy of brutuality and organized crime behavior? 3) Being subject to regulatory harassment by the PUC and DMV (also because their staff is union) 4) Being attacked by the cabbie mafia?
