Multiple email aliases

Hi,

Take a typical family with one ISP, and one account, username of
family@fake.isp but with several email aliases - eg dad@fake.isp,
mum@fake.isp etc... Mail is sent to dad, mum, and so on, but ultimately
it all ends up in the one file - /var/spool/mail/family.

Is there a script/program which takes that file and splits it up into
separate mail files for each alias? So dad didn't receive mums mail
and vice versa...

ie, multiple addresses feeding one file, but then being split based
on the To: line in the header.

Does anyone know of anything which does this? I know it's only a few
minutes work, but quite frankly, I don't want to reinvent the
wheel so to speak...

Thanks,

Yes, there is.

Procmail, with 20 minutes reading the man pages (for procmail, procmailrc
and procmailex (for examples)). You should have this functioning perfectly.

While procmail is a good solution when you use a Unix command line mail
reader. If you collect your email via POP when use Netscape Communicator
to filter your email into separate mail folders.

Cheers.
