PAP authentication problems

I am having hell of a hard time to setup my dial-up connection. I am
trying to connect to Sympatico (Canadian ISP) using RH4.2 (packaged
with pppd 2.2.0). I can setup my ppp connection no problems but my ISP
will not let me authenticate using PAP. I figure there is something
wrong in my configuration. I tried to add the noauth
to /etc/ppp/options and pppd returns me an error message (Unrecognized
command). I have tried to upgrade the pppd and still no luck.

Thanks for your help

Martin
