Alright, I'm confused. :) (Crossposted to a couple more groups for some more insight?) I used alien on the tdfx_dri rpm (3dfx's X server package), used dpkg --extract to open it in a separate location, and copied *their* libGL, GLU, glut, etc. etc. into /usr/lib along with the symlinks (and ldconfig'd it). If I run 'gears' it seems to run OK, and then when I quit gears I get this output: chris:/home/chris# (0): [drm] removed 1 reserved context for kernel (0): [drm] unmapping 4096 bytes of SAREA 0xcfaf6000 at 0x40017000 (==) TDFX(0): Write-combining range (0xe8000000,0x2000000) (II) TDFX(0): Textures Memory 3.96 MB (0): [drm] created "tdfx" driver at busid "PCI:1:0:0" (0): [drm] added 4096 byte SAREA at 0xcacc9000 (0): [drm] mapped SAREA 0xcacc9000 to 0x40017000 (0): [drm] framebuffer handle = 0xe8000000 (0): [drm] added 1 reserved context for kernel (II) TDFX(0): [drm] Registers = 0xe4000000 (II) TDFX(0): visual configs initialized (0): X context handle = 0x00000001 (0): [drm] installed DRM signal handler (0): [DRI] installation complete (II) TDFX(0): direct rendering enabled So what's going on? Is it running hardware accelerated or not?! glxinfo reports 'Mesa Indirect' but this looks like it might *really* be running in hardware (glxinfo somehow in error)? As in when gears quits it re-inits the hardware after using it, or is it re-init-ing the hardware because it didn't use it.... RRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrr. Confusing.
