I am the proud new owner of a Yaesu FT-50R dual band HT. I like the fact that I can directly clip on a spare battery to my belt when in the wilderness, because the clip is part of the battery (no case needed). The only problem I have with this is that I wish I didnt have to expose the metal contacts. Does anyone know of a product (a thin piece of plastic) which clips on to this battery to protect the contacts, yet maintains a low-profile? Please e-mail any responses. Thanks

I use electrical tape. It's inexpensive and low profile. Frank4d wrote in message ... >I am the proud new owner of a Yaesu FT-50R dual band HT. How about a wide rubber band? A 3/4 inch piece of bicycle inner tube might do it and wouldn't look too bad. >>Frank4d wrote in message ... >>>I am the proud new owner of a Yaesu FT-50R dual band HT. What do you do about adhesive residue? On particularly hot days this could become a guncky mess. Not trying to shoot you down Mark, but I have not had good luck with electrical tape coming off cleanly (maybe I'm buying too cheap a grade :-}). Try some stretch wrap made for wrapping foodstuffs. A small patch that wraps partiall around the case might be the ticket. No residue and quite reusable. You might be the brunt of a few good natured jabs, but you will not short out your battery pack inadvertantly. Which, by the way, is made tougher from the get-go as Yaesu was smart enough to recess the contacts. Hope this helps. 73, Howard KE6MAK On Sat, 21 Mar 1998 18:23:09 -0800, "Mark Grandstaff" <grandmhg@gocougs.wsu.edu> wrote: >I use electrical tape. It was made by "Duty Man" and is a black utility case used by law enforcement to carry beepers. I have used it and it works well for what I wanted. Best of all, it protects the battery from the elements and is hand to clip on to any belt. Thanks for the ideas.
