linux newbie needs help with video card/resolution

Hi, I'm having a few problems with my install of Linux 5.1, I can't get my
video card to work, so in xwindows, I"m running like, 200x400 resolution,
which means I can't see but about 20% of my screen... I'd like to download
the 3.3.3.1 version of xfree86, which has a new driver for my video card,
but the only instructions I can find presume I've downloaded xfree86 in
Linux, and I will need to download in Windows since I can't even see the
whole screen to set up my modem etc..Any help please contact me, I'm gonna
be online until I resolve this tonight...Thanks
