It's highly likely that you won't need to recompile your kernel, but can use
modules instead.  Here are some steps you could take (assuming your card is
pnp).  As root, issue the command:

cp /etc/isapnp.conf /etc/isapnp.conf.bak  (do this to make backups)

pnpdump /etc/isapnp.conf

Look for entries describing your card.	Uncomment out the lines referring to
IRQ and IOPORT and the line containing ACCT Y

Then use netconf to configure your adapater with similar IRQ, IOPORT settings.
